The opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is threatening to bring a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister and Finance Minister David Thompson in light of the Colonial Life Insurance Company (CLICO) debacle.
Opposition Leader Mia Mottley served notice of her intentions during a public meeting staged by the party in the south of the island on the weekend.
In recent days, the government and the opposition have been publicly trading words over the state of the statutory fund of CLICO Holdings Barbados Limited.
Mottley claims the fund is in deficit to the tune of more than US$46 million.
