Haitians returned home

Over 200 Haitians have been returned to their country by the US Coast Guard after they were intercepted in a makeshift sailing freighter just east of Cuba.

Petty Officer Barry Bena said the freighter was stopped Friday night with 187 adults and 27 children aboard.

The latest discovery comes amid a recent spike in Haitian migration to South Florida.

In January, there was a significant increase in migration, with 742 Haitians interdicted at sea.
