The West Indies women have arrived in Australia for the 2009 International Cricket Council Women’s Cricket World Cup.
The Caribbean team, led by new captain Merissa Aguilleira, will open against South Africa on March 8 before tackling title-holders and hosts Australia and New Zealand in their Group ‘A’ schedule.
The women arrived for the tournament short on match practice and international exposure after having played only 17 One Day International matches since the 2005 World Cup in South Africa.
The squad includes four teenagers with the youngest member being hard-hitting batter Deandra Dottin from Barbados who will celebrate her 18th birthday on June 21.
