Turks and Caicos Enquiry
The Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Gordon Wetherell is expected to receive by Saturday, a report from the Commission of Inquiry set up to probe allegations of widespread corruption in the government.
It was anticipated that the UK appointed Commission of Inquiry would have submitted its preliminary findings by last week, having completed its hearings into allegations against the Michael Misick administration on February 11.
However, the Governor said he was prepared to give the Commission led by former British judge Sir Robin Auld sufficient time to complete its inquiry.
Misick, who appeared before the Commission to answer a barrage of questions, announced earlier this month that he would be relinquishing his position as leader of the ruling Progressive National Party on Saturday.
He’s also expected to step down as Premier on March 31.
The Premier, who was the focal point of most of the allegations, cited a lack of support within his government for his decision, which he said was being taken in the best interest of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
