Antigua polls favour UPP
The results of a recently conducted public opinion poll in Antigua and Barbuda favours a return of the governing United Progressive Party (UPP) in the March 12 general elections.
The survey of 1,000 persons was conducted by the Barbados-based CADRES organisation between January 30 and February 2, in all 16 constituencies on the Antigua mainland.
It shows the governing UPP, which is seeking its second consecutive term in office, enjoys a 45 percent national support compared with 33 percent for the main opposition Antigua Labour Party (ALP).
The other 23 percent of persons surveyed either did not respond to the political question or indicated that they would not vote in the upcoming election.
Based on the finding, CADRES, which is projecting a cumulative 1.6 percent swing in for the ruling party.
