West Indies, chasing England’s first innings score of 546 for six declared, will resume this morning on 349 for five in the decisive fifth and final Test at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

The Caribbean side, which resumed yesterday’s third day on 92 for one, has saved the follow-on and is now 197 runs in arrears of England’s total.

The batsmen at the crease are Brendan Nash on 70 and Shivnarine Chanderpaul on 52. They have shared an unbroken stand of 146 for the fifth wicket.

Captain Chris Gayle has so far top scored for West Indies with 100, his 10th Test century. However, Gayle strained his right hamstring while sprinting a quick single to bring up his hundred and retired hurt immediately.

Left-arm spinner Monty Panesar took two for 84, while debutant fast bowler Amjad Khan claimed his first test wicket by dismissing Ramnaresh Sarwan for 14 and finished with one for 74. Stuart Broad grabbed one for 42.
