Former Trinidad and Tobago Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissesar, broke her silence on the disunity within the United National Congress(UNC).

In recent months, Members of Parliament, Jack Warner and Ramesh Maharaj have been clamouring for internal elections to bring about change within the opposition party.

However, Persad-Bissesar has questioned the motives behind their actions.

Persad-Bissesar, who is now the UNC Deputy Political Leader, said it is time for a truce.

She said members of the party should not have to defend themselves against each other.

UNC Leader, Basdeo Panday, has called for unity within the party.
