At least three senior Burundi officers are among 10 people feared dead after a plane flying to Somalia crashed in Uganda\'s Lake Victoria, yesterday.

According to a BBC report, the plane went down with 77 passengers shortly after taking off from the Entebbe airport in Uganda.

Officials say the cause of the crash is unknown but the site is being investigated.

An army spokesman said eyewitnesses reportedly saw the plane on fire before it crashed into the lake.

The spokesman said the plane was carrying water purifiers, pipes and other equipment.

A rescue mission is under way but officials say there is little hope of finding any survivors.
