England resumes batting in final Test
England, pressing for a series-leveling win in the fifth and final Test against the West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, will resume this morning on 80 for three, a lead of 82 runs.
Kevin Pietersen is unbeaten on 34 off 27 balls and Paul Collingwood is one not out.
Lionel Baker, Chris Gayle and Ryan Hinds have taken the wickets to fall.
Meanwhile, lefthanders Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brendan Nash completed centuries on yesterday’s fourth day to lead West Indies to 544 in reply to England’s first innings on 546 for six declared.
West Indies had resumed yesterday on 349 for four with Nash on 70 and Chanderpual on 52.
Chanderpaul ended with an unbeaten 147, his 21st Test hundred, while Nash scored 109, his maiden Test hundred.
Chanderpaul and Nash shared a record fifth-wicket stand of 234 that anchored the West Indies innings.
West Indies need only a draw to secure a series victory over England for the first time in 11 years, and their first series victory over a side above them in the World rankings for six years.
