Embattle TCI premier gets support
Bermuda\'s Premier Ewart Brown has expressed sadness over plans by Britain to take over the running of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The islands’ Constitution is to be partially suspended at the end of next month to allow for the take-over.
It follows a damning report on Government corruption and impropriety in the Turks.
The Bermudan Premier Ewart Brown, who is a close friend of the Turks Premier Michael Misick, said he would be travelling to the territory soon.
According to Mr Brown, this is not a happy day for Turks and Caicos or any overseas territory of the United Kingdom.
Misick, is due to step down as leader of the governing Progressive National Party at the end of the month.
Misick and his fellow government ministers are alleged to have sold off Crown land to property developers for their own personal gain.
