Jamaican forward Nicholas Addlery netted his third goal in as many games helping the Puerto Rico Islanders beat visiting Mexicans Cruz Azul 2-nil in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League semi-final last night

Addlery doubled the score in the 36th minute after Liberia-born Sandy Gbandi had put Puerto Rico Islanders ahead after just four minutes of play.

It was the first time in 14 years that a Caribbean side has reached the final four of CONCACAF’s premier club competition.

The return match is set for April 7 in Mexico City. Cruz Azul have won four of five matches at home in the Champions League and drawn the other.
