Guyana’s President rejects drug trafficker
Guyana’s President, Bharrat Jagdeo has distanced his government from the self-confessed Guyanese drug trafficker Shaheed Roger Khan, while seeking to disassociate his administration from claims he made.
Mr. Jagdeo says he’s concerned about statements made by Khan that he had used his personal resources to help the Guyana government in its fight against criminal gangs.
President Jagdeo says he has never met the prisoner nor does he have any knowledge that any of his ministers were in contact with Khan during his time in Guyana.
Khan has been charged for the importation of cocaine into the US between January 2001 and March 2006, as well as possession of an illegal firearm.
On Monday, the notorious drug trafficker pleaded guilty to several drug related charges after spending 3 years in a US jail.
