South Africa makes solid start

South Africa made a solid start today to reach 57 without loss at the close of the first day of the third Test after dismissing visitors Australia for 209 at Newlands.



Openers Ashwell Prince, on 37, and Imraan Khan, 15 not out are the batsmen at the crease after South Africa took five wickets for 51 runs after tea to dismiss Australia for 209.



Dale Steyn, four for 56, and spinner Paul Harris, three for 34, were the top bowlers for the Africans.



Simon Katich scored the only half century for Australia with 55, while Mitchell Johnson, 35 and Philip Hughes, 33, were the other top scorers.



Australia leads the three-match series two-nil.
