Montserrat concern over constitution

Montserrat’s Economic Development Minister Reuben Meade is expressing concern about what he calls the United Kingdom’s domination over the country’s affairs.
Mr. Meade said the Gordon Brown Administration wields far too much influence.
His concern comes in light of the partial suspension the Constitution of the Turks and Caicos Islands by the British government.
Montserrat’s constitution was last updated in 1989 by the UK parliament and handed down to the island.
Mr. Meade said the country’s Constitution is threatened if the Administration does not comply with the directives from the British parliament.
