Former Israeli president on rape charges

Former Israeli President Moshe Katsav has been charged with rape and other sexual offences.



The charges stem from accusations by a number of former female employees while Mr. Katsav was tourism minister and president.



Mr. Katsav is denying the charges against him.



If convicted, he could spend up to 16 years in jail.



No date has yet been set for the trial.
