Dominica gets help from Japan

Dominica has confirmed that it\'s to receive a $7.5 million grant from Japan to build a fisheries complex.

Environmentalists have long criticised Dominica for voting with Japan in favour of commercial whaling in exchange for financial aid.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit told a regional environmental meeting that Roseau would not change the position it took at last year’s International Whaling Commission conference.

The island abstained there on the vote on whaling, and Mr Skerrit said it would do the same again this year.
