Gayle dismisses boycott reports

Skipper Chris Gayle said the cash dispute between the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) will not disrupt the current one-day series or the forthcoming tour of England.

Reports of players boycotting the remaining three one-day internationals against England and possibly the return tour which begins next month surfaced overnight after the failure to reach agreement over money allegedly owed to players.

Gayle said he is not aware of any threat made to boycott any games following two days of talks in Barbados between WIPA and the regional board.

The third one-day international starts tomorrow in Barbados and Gayle says all players selected are expected to be available.

Gayle also rejected reports that five West Indies players could withdraw from the tour of England to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The players selected for the Indian League are Gayle, Jerome Taylor, Fidel Edwards, Dwayne Smith and Dwayne Bravo.
