Good result for Jamaica in Dom Rep
Jamaica’s Junior Davis Cup and Fed Cup teams recorded victories in the latest round of matches at the Central American and Caribbean Regional tournaments in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The Junior Davis Cup team of Rowland Phillips, Jordan Harris and Joseph Ross defeated Haiti 3-0; while the Junior Fed Cup team of Sicquena Sinclair, Shantal Blackwood edged Bahamas 2-1.
In the Junior Davis Cup, Rowland Phillips defeated Nicolson St Louis 6-0, 6-2; Jordan Harris got by Fabbio Villard 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to give Jamaica a 2-0 victory.
Harris and Ross then defeated Elize Delva and Nicolson St Louis 6-3, 6-3 in the doubles to complete a 3-0 victory for Jamaica.
In the Junior Fed Cup, Sicquena Sinclair turned back Gabrielle Moxey 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 to give Jamaica a 1-0 lead. However, Simone Pratt beat Shantal Blackwood 6-1, 6-1 to put the scores at one-all.
The Jamaican pair of Shantal Blackwood and Sicquena Sinclair defeated Simone Pratt and Erin Strachan 6-2, 6-3 in the doubles for a 2-1 victory.
