Taylor and Ryder post record fourth wicket stand

A record fourth-wicket partnership of 271 between Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder put hosts New Zealand in control on 351 for four, after the first day of the second Test against India in Napier.



New Zealand were struggling at 23 for three before Taylor and Ryder took over.



Taylor was dismissed for 151 after tea, but Ryder remains unbeaten on 137 with James Franklin on 26 not out.



The partnership between Taylor and Ryder was the highest by a New Zealand pair for all wickets against India.



Zaheer Khan was the most successful bowler for India with two for 94. Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan Singh took a wicket apiece.



India lead the three-match series one-nil.
