Jamaica loses to Windward Islands

Tournament leaders Jamaica, suffered a three-wicket defeat to Windward Islands on yesterday’s third day of their 12th round West Indies Regional Four-day match at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.



The Jamaicans, who resumed yesterday leading by 15 runs with the scores on eight for one, were bowled out for 107 in their second innings.



David Bernard got most runs for Jamaica with 50 against the bowling of Deighton Butler three for 11, Shane Shillingford three for 29 and Kenroy Peters three for 38.



Set 115 runs to win, the Windward Islands achieved victory in the last session, reaching 118 for seven.



The defeat left Jamaica with only four points from the match but still virtually assured of the George Headley/Everton Weekes Trophy with 94 points.



And Windward Islands moved into second place on 75 points.



Over at Queen’s Park Oval, Guyana, ahead of hosts Trinidad and Tobago by 23 runs on first innings, ended yesterday’s third day on zero without loss.



Over at Grove Park in Nevis, Leeward Islands, replying to Combined Campuses and Colleges’ first innings total of 519, will resume this morning on 410 for five.
