Jamaica wins regional championship

Jamaica were yesterday confirmed as winners of the 2009 West Indies Cricket Board Regional Four-day championship after the match between Leeward Islands and Combined Campuses and Colleges ended in a draw in Nevis.



The Jamaicans, who were beaten inside three days by Windward Islands on Sunday, will go into the final round with an unbeatable 94 points.



The Windward Islands are second on 75 points, followed by Leeward Islands on 65, Barbados and T&T 54; Combined Campuses and Colleges 36 and Guyana 30.



Combined Campuses and Colleges, trailing the Leeward Islands by 77 runs on first innings, reached 44 for one in their second innings when the game was called off.



Final scores in the game:- Combined Campuses and Colleges 519 and 44 for one; Leeward Islands 596.



Over at Queen’s Park Oval, hosts Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana also played to a draw yesterday’s final day.
