Caribbean leaders to discuss public saftey at Summit of the Americas

The issue of public safety and security will be high on the agenda of the Fifth Summit of the Americas, which will be held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from April 17 to 19.



White House Advisor on the summit, Jeffrey Davidow, said US President Barack Obama will participate in the discussions on the search for solutions to the security problems affecting citizens, especially in Central America and the Caribbean.



The White House official was addressing Caribbean journalists in Washington earlier this week.



He disclosed that the issue of security and public safety was placed on the summit agenda by host country, Trinidad and Tobago.



Leaders from 34 democracies in the Americas will deliberate for two days on the theme: ‘Securing Our Citizens\' Future by Promoting Human Prosperity, Energy Security and Environmental Sustainability.’
