Ramesh speaks out

Trinidad and Tobago parliamentarian Ramesh Maharaj said his dismissal as chief whip of the opposition United National Congress (UNC) won\'t stop him from making his positions known.

Mr Maharaj has indicated that he\'ll be speaking freely and frequently from his new position on the back bench.

The former attorney general said his demotion from the position of lead spokesman for the party in parliament would not force him to leave the UNC or create a new party.

Ramesh Maharaj\'s dismissal follows growing tensions between himself and party leader Basdeo Panday.

The tension worsened when rival UNC factions clashed in a violent confrontation two Sundays ago.
