Players’ Union to meet WICB
The West Indies players’ union will meet with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) today to try and settle several issues, which could jeopardise tomorrow’s fifth and final One Day International against England.
West Indies captain Chris Gayle says the players could boycott the St Lucia game if outstanding issues remain unsettled.
Among the issues are outstanding match fee payments for members of the West Indies team for previous matches.
Dinanath Ramnarine, president of the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) resigned as a director of the WICB on March 19 claiming his position had become untenable because of the board’s lack of movement on several key players issues.
West Indies coach John Dyson had a three-hour training session yesterday with the players at the Beausejour Ground, the venue for the series decider.
The series is tied at 2-2.
