Guyana’s President Bharrat Jagdeo said the governing People’s Progressive Party/Civic remains open to discussions with the opposition party on forming a unity government.

The main Opposition People’s National Congress Reform has been advocating some sort of power-sharing with the government and the small Alliance For Change has urged closer collaboration.

Mr Jagdeo said he does not foresee any problem working with the opposition on a formalized basis.

But he said any such formalized structure must be based on goodwill and trust.
