Andrew Strauss, who led England in the recent Test and One-Day series against West Indies, said he was not axed from the World Twenty/Twenty squad.
His name was not among the 30-man squad announced by the England selectors yesterday to prepare for the June 1 to 21 tournament.
Strauss said he decided not to accept an invitation because he is not among the strongest eleven Twenty/Twenty players in the country.
Strauss, who replaced Kevin Pietersen ahead of the Caribbean tour, emerged as England’s leading batsman in both the Test and One-Day Internationals.
