St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas said he will be using the Summit of the Americas to defend offshore financial centers.
The Summit begins in Port of Spain tomorrow.
US President Barack Obama has been speaking out against the tax havens.
However, Dr Douglas said the region needs to explain the importance of the facilities to Caribbean economies.
He said their value must also be pressed home to members of the US congress who will be at the summit.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding leaves Jamaica today to head the island’s delegation to the Summit.
