Bolivian police are reporting that they were able to avert an assignation plot against President Evo Morales and other top government officials, yesterday.

The police said the plot involved five men from Ireland, Croatia and Bolivia.

It’s reported that the men were staying at a hotel in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz when the police went in search of them.

On arrival at the hotel the police and the men engaged in a 30-minute gun battle.

At the end of the gunfire three of the men were killed and the two others arrested.

Bolivian police said the men were involved in the bombing of the home of a Catholic Cardinal in Santa Cruz a day earlier.
