Australia win final one day
Australia bounced back to finish the one-day international series against hosts South Africa with a convicing 47-run victory at the Wanderers today.
South Africa still won the series 3-2 and retained the Number One spot in the world One Day International rankings.
Invited to bat first, Australia scored 303 for seven off their allotted 50 overs.
Michael Clarke, 66, and Brad Haddin, 62, put on a 127-run opening stand to set the foundation.
Also getting among the runs for Australia were Michael Hussey 49 not out, Callum Ferguson 41 and Ricky Ponting 40.
Part-time spinner J.P. Duminy was the most successful bowler for South Africa with three for 48; while left-arm spinner Roelof van der Merwe chipped in with two for 44.
South Africa struggled to string partnerships together and were all out for 256 in 45 point 5 overs despite Herschelle Gibbs making 82 and Jacques Kallis 64.
Mitchell Johnson was top bowler for Australia with three for 58, while Nathan Bracken and Nathan Hauritz supported with two wickets each.
