Everton beat Man U in FA Cup Semis
Everton defeated Manchester United four-two on penalties yesterday at Wembley in London to seal a FA Cup final date with Chelsea.
After a goalless two hours, Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard saved a woeful penalty from record signing Dimitar Berbatov and another from Rio Ferdinand to wreck United’s hopes of an historic haul of five trophies.
Tim Cahill missed the first penalty for Everton and Phil Jagielka scored the clincher.
Manchester United played with a youthful team leaving out Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Edwin van der Sar.
Meanwhile, in the English Premier League yesterday, Newcastle were plunged closer to relegation after Darren Bent fired Tottenham to a one-nil victory.
Bent scored after 24 minutes to leave Alan Shearer without a win in his first three games as temporary manager. He now has five matches to keep his club in the Premier League.
In yesterday’s game, Manchester City outscored West Brom four-two at Eastlands.
