West Indies, chasing Leicestershire County first innings scores of 183, were struggling on 80 for four at stumps on today’s first day of their three-day tour match at Grace Road in England.
Devon Smith 24, Dale Richards 15, Ramnaresh Sarwan four and Narsingh Deonarine 15 are the batsmen back in the pavilion.
Lendl Simmons is undefeated on 21.
Earlier, spinners Sulieman Benn and pacer Andrew Richardson shared seven wickets to put Leicestershire in trouble.
Benn finished with four for 31 and Richardson took three for 46.
Matthew Boyce was the top batsman for Leicestershire with 45, while Wayne White chipped in with an undefeated 37.
West Indies are without captain Chris Gayle, pacemen Fidel Edwards and Jerome Taylor and batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Gayle and Edwards are playing in the Indian Premier Leauge and are set to join the squad on May 2, just four days before the first Test at Lord’s.
Chanderpaul and Taylor are recovering from minor injuries but are expected to arrive in time for the second tour match.
