The Home Affairs Ministry in Guyana has deployed armed security personnel to the houses of magistrates in the country.

This follows the pre-dawn robbery of a magistrate and his wife yesterday.

Officials said a lone gunman tied up Magistrate Nigel Hawke and his wife before making off with his laptop, camera, jewellery, cell phones and money.

The Ministry said armed security will also be provided at the courts and persons attending the court will be scanned and searched before entering.
