Jamaica and West Indies captain Chris Gayle hammered 44 not out to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to an 11- run victory over Kings Eleven Punjab in a rain-shortened Indian Premier League match at Kingsmead in South Africa today.
Kolkata Knight Riders won under the Duckworth-Lewis method after rain stopped play with the score on 79 for one off 9.2 overs.
Gayle, who faced 26 balls, hit two fours and four sixes in his 44 not out. He was named Man-of-the-Match.
Earlier, Kings Eleven Punjab made 158 for six off their allotted 20 overs. Yuvraj Singh top scored with 38 runs, while Irfan Pathan scored 32 and Kumar Sangakkara, 26.
Sourav was the most successful bowler for Kolkata Knight Riders with two for 24.
