Grenada to ask Canada to lift visa restriction

The Tillman Thomas administration is pursuing efforts to have Canadian visa restrictions against Grenada lifted.
Canadian authorities imposed the restrictions in 2001 after it was discovered that about 840 Grenadian passports were illegally sold to non-nationals in the late 1990’s.
Prime Minister Thomas says he raised the matter with his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper, during the recent Fifth Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr. Thomas says he also plans to have discussions with the Canadian High Commission in Barbados.
The prime minister says with the illegal sale of passports being discontinued he expects a positive response from Canada.
