England’s all-rounder Andrew Flintoff is set to miss the two-Test series against visitors West Indies next month, after being forced out of the Indian Premier League with a knee injury.
The 31 year old will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee and will be out of action for up to five weeks.
The first Test between England and West Indies is set to bowl off at Lord’s on May 6 followed by the second Test at Chester-le-Street on May 14.
It is the second injury blow in recent time for Flintoff after he missed the last two matches of the five-Test series against West Indies in the Caribbean. He also missed the fist two One-Day Internationals of the five-match contest with a hip problem.
