The three-day tour match between West Indies and Essex finished in a draw today after rain ruined the final day’s play at County Ground in England.

Not a ball was bowled as heavy rain last night continued into today, forcing the umpires to abandon the day’s play at 1:30.

Essex were 175 for three in the second innings after making 263 in the first innings.

The West Indies made 146 in the first innings with Shivnarine Chanderpaul top scoring with 66.

Narsingh Deonarine three for 32, Lionel Baker two for 39 and Andrew Richardson two for 51 were the successful bowlers for West Indies in the first innings.

Baker two for 21 and Nelon Pascal one for 23 accounted for the wickets in the second innings.

West Indies are scheduled to play their final warm up match against the England Lions starting Thursday morning at Derby.

The Caribbean side will play England in the first Test, starting May 6 at Lord’s.
