Grenada has no plans to evacuate students in Mexico

The Grenada government says it has no plans to evacuate more than 60 students from Mexico in the wake of the swine flu outbreak.

Education Minister Senator Franca Bernadine dismissed criticism of the decision by the Tillman Thomas administration not to recall the students.

Earlier, the Education Minister had issued an appeal to the students to remain calm, insisting that the government was working in their best interest.

But many of the students have been complaining to their family and friends that they have not been hearing from the government and some expressed a desire to return home.

But Bernadine says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been sending information to the students, including measures to avoid exposure to the virus.

Meanwhile, the Mexican Embassy has said the students are subjected to the same treatment as the rest of the population.
