Jamaica win Under 16 championships

Champions Jamaica recorded another big victory of the 2009 Caribbean Netball Association’s Jean Pierre Youth Under-16 Championship last night with a 74-9 mauling of Guyana at the Leila Robinson Courts.



As a result of the victory, the seven-time champions have virtually retained their title with one set of games remaining



Scoring for Jamaica, Deneen Taylor netted 55 goals from 65 attempts while Marvadene Anderson had 15 from 18 and Vanessa Jones netted five from nine.



Shanette Eswick scored all nine goals for Guyana from 16 attempts.



In other games last night, Barbados defeated Trinidad and Tobago 25-22 and Dominica beat the Cayman Islands 26-14.



The competition ends today with Jamaica facing Trinidad and Tobago at 7 p.m.



The remaining matches are St Lucia against the Cayman Islands at 5:45 and Guyana playing Barbados at 6 o’clock.
