Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Patrick Manning says the current financial problems facing his country are temporary.

He’s reported to have told members of the private sector that the economic climate would not hamper plans to have Trinidad and Tobago attain developed country status by 2020.

Last week, Central Bank Governor Ewart Williams warned of further job losses, as the economy remained stagnant.

He said the country has not yet gone into a recession.
