Egypt has started a mass slaughtering of pigs in an effort to prevent swine flu from spreading.

There have been no reports of the virus in Egypt.

But neighbouring Israel has two confirmed cases in humans.

Meanwhile, Egyptian authorities have increased the number of medical staff at the Cairo airport to check passengers arriving from Mexico.

They say the passengers will also be monitored during their stay.
