US civil rights leader, Reverend Jesse Jackson, is being sued after he failed to turn up at a speaking engagement in Trinidad and Tobago.

American Entertainment International, based in Massachusetts, reportedly filed the $100,000 lawsuit.

The company claims that Jackson backed out of a 2007 speech, which resulted in $100,000 in losses.

The suit alleges that Jackson didn\'t attend the function because he did not want to show favouritism toward a Trinidadian political party.

Mr. Jackson is said to have denied the allegations.

His lawyers said that he intends to fight the lawsuit.
