T&T Health Ministry says no need to panic
The Ministry of Health in Trinidad said there is no reason for concern after National Under-17 footballer Dillon Kirton was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex yesterday complaining of experiencing influenza-like symptoms.
The Ministry said Kirton, who along with his teammates had returned from Mexico on April 28, had been examined and given a clean bill of health.
Manager of the Under-17 team, Christopher Gouveia said Kirton was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure so as to rule out the influenza A H1N1 virus.
Kirton is expected to return to the hospital in three days for additional tests.
Mexico have been the most badly hit country by the H1N1 virus.
World health officials have confirmed 1,085 cases of the new strain of influenza A, H1N1, in 21 countries with Mexico and the USA the only ones to report deaths.
