Melbourne off the island

Melbourne Cricket Club departed the country yesterday for Trinidad and Tobago to represent Jamaica in the second annual West Indies Players Association Twenty/Twenty Champions League.



The Courtney Walsh-conditioned team has been drawn in Group ‘A’ along with defending champions Powergen of Trinidad and Tobago and Dominica All-Stars.



Melbourne team includes spinner Nikita Miller, batsman Donovan Pagon and wicketkeeper-batsman Carlton Baugh,



They will open their fixture against Powergen on Friday.



The championship, which consists of 12 teams and will last two weeks, offers a winner-take-all prize of US$100 thousand.
