Update: Fidel Edwards takes four wickets
West Indies pacer Fidel Edwards took four wickets as England, sent to bat, were 289 for seven at stumps on today’s opening day of the first Test match at Lord’s.
Edwards ended the day with figures of four for 53 off 19 overs
At one stage Edwards had taken three for nine off 22 balls, including two from two balls to remove Alastair Cook for 35 and Kevin Pietersen without scoring.
He then had Paul Collingwood brilliantly caught by Devon Smith at slip for eight and then removed Matt Prior for 42.
Left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn supported with two wickets. He removed Stuart Broad for 38 and debutant Tim Bresnan for 9
The other wicket went to Jerome Taylor, who had captain Andrew Strauss caught by wicketkeeper, Denesh Ramdin for 16.
The batsmen at the crease are Ravi Bopara on 118 and Graeme Swann on seven.
