St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says his government could reconsider participation in the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) in the awake of reports of discriminatory treatment of Vincentians in some Caribbean countries.

Dr. Gonsalves says he’s concerned about the conditions under which an 18 year old youth and a five year old girl were deported from two countries in the region.

He however did not disclose the names of the countries.

The Vincentian Prime minister says the utterances of some CARICOM political leaders have added to the tension between locals and foreigners in some countries.

He says a special unit is to be established by the St Vincent government to receive complaints of unfair, unlawful and discriminatory treatment of Vincentians by immigration authorities in CARICOM member-states.
