Williams-Mills to heads Jamaica contingent
The 2007 World Championships bronze medallist, Novlene Williams-Mills will head Jamaica’s contingent for the Adidas Classic in Carson, California tomorrow.
Williams-Mills had an impressive showing at the Jamaica International Invitational meet on May 2 where she posted a sub 51 to beat the highly rated American Sanya Richards in the women’s 400 metres event.
She will compete in the 400 metres at the Addidas Classic along with fellow Jamaican Rosemarie Whyte, Shereefa Lloyd, Sonita Sutherland and Patricia Hall. The field also includes Americans Shana Cox, Shareese Woods, Natasha Hastings and Angel Perkins.
Veteran Aleen Bailey and Schillonie Calvert will take on a strong field in the women’s 100 metres, which includes Americans Carmaleta Jeter, Lauryn Williams and Marshavet Hooker.
Another Jamaican veteran Vonette Dixon will also be in action. Dixon will compete in women’s 100-metre hurdles along with Nickiesha Wilson. The field also includes Perdita Felicien of Canada along with Americans Dawn Haper and Candice Davis.
Other Jamaicans scheduled to compete are Beijing Olympic finalist Kenia Sinclair, who runs in the 1500 metres, Yohan Blake and Steve Mullings who compete in the men’s 100 metres, while Marvin Anderson will run in the men’s 200.
