Liverpool beat West Brom
West Brom suffered Premier League relegation yesterday after losing 2-0 to Liverpool.
West Brom started brightly as they chased a victory that would have put them right back in the survival picture.
But a Shelton Mattis error let Steven Gerrard in, and he calmly chipped the ball over Kean Kiely to put the visitors ahead in the 28th minute.
Dirk Kuyt added a second in the 63rd minute to seal the home side’s fate.
Meanwhile Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka gave Chelsea a 2-0 victory over Blackburn in the last match at Stamford Bridge under the charge of temporary head coach Guus Hiddink.
Chelsea remain three points behind second place Liverpool with one game remaining and Blackburn stay 14th, a point behind Bolton.
Manchester United captured the title on Saturday with a 0-0 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
They have 87 points with one game to go.
