Gayle blames the weather for poor match
West Indies captain Chris Gayle has blamed the cold English condition for his side poor display in the second and final Test at Riverside Ground.
The Caribbean side, seeking a win in order to level the series, collapsed to 175 in their second innings yesterday to lose by an innings and 83 runs.
Gayle says playing cricket in that condition is really a big challenge for the players.
He further says it is hard to concentrate for a long period of time in the cold.
With the defeat, West Indies surrendered the Wisden Trophy they had won just 69 days earlier in the Caribbean with a 1-0 serious triumph.
In similar condition last week, West Indies were beaten by 10 wickets inside three days in the first Test at Lord’s.
England will now host the West Indies in the first of three One Day International at Leeds on Thursday.
