West Indies batting star Shivnarine Chanderpaul has slipped to number four in the Reliance Mobile International Cricket Council Player rankings for Test batsmen.

The Guyanese batsman held the number one spot since July last year, but slipped to number two after the West Indies 10-wicket defeat to England at Lord’s in the first Test earlier this month.

After scores of 23 and 47 in the second Test, which ended yesterday at the Riverside Ground, Chanderpaul has slipped two more places.

Pakistan captain Younus Khan leads the chart.

The only other West Indies batsman in the top 20 is Ramnaresh Sarwan, who remains at number 14. West Indies captain Chris Gayle slips to number 22.

In the bowling department, pacer Jerome Taylor is the best-placed West Indies player at Number 13.

Muttiah Muralitaran of Sri Lanka still leads the bowling chart followed by Dale Steyn of South Africa and Australia’s Mitchell Johnson.

Gayle holds down the number two position in the One-Day batting rankings, while Chanderpaul is at number three. Mahendra Singh Dhoni of India leads the table.
