Jamaica defeat Haiti in volleyball qualifiers
Jamaica recorded a 3-0 victory over Haiti last night to get their campaign off to a winning start in the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Group ‘D’ Men’s World Championships qualifiers.
The game was the second match of a double header at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.
Jamaica won the contest 25-16, 25-13, 25-20.
In the tournament opener, The Bahamas defeated St Lucia 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-11.
Today’s second day will feature Cayman Islands against Haiti at 5 p.m., while Bahamas tackle Mexico two hours later.
In the final preliminary round of matches tomorrow, Mexico take on St Lucia at 5 p.m. in the evening and Jamaica face Cayman at 7 p.m.
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday, with the final and third place play offs scheduled for Sunday.
The two top teams will advance to the third round of World Championships qualifiers, which will be hosted by either Puerto Rico or Cuba from July 8 to 12.
